Without Karma

The Universe would fall over

The concept of Karma (Law of Cause & Effect) has come into western thinking as the idea that if you give out £5 worth of misery then you’ll get £5 worth of misery back, if not in this life then in a future one. Correspondingly if you do a bit of good then you can eventually expect a reward.

Theosophy does a bit more with Karma and regards it as a force of cause and effect that pervades all existence. It is Karma that keeps the Universe in balance. Without it everything would spin out of control.

Karma ensures harmony in the Universe by making an adjustment whenever the natural order of things is disturbed so that equilibrium can be restored.
